Bit of a cloudy start today, but the sun came out to say hello—and it’s nice and cool. Speaking of which, the Portuguese word for cool is fixe (pronounced like “fish”). So, if you want to say I am cool in Portuguese, you say estou fixe—which sounds a bit like stafish (as in “starfish” without the r). So next time someone asks how you’re doing, hit them with a confident: Stafish!
Honestly, I should’ve been a teacher.
Had a lovely group of young people in this morning renting bikes. That can only mean one thing—summer is around the corner! Usually our bike renters are, let’s say, a bit more seasoned. These were the first of the youngsters this season. The torch has officially been passed (along with the helmets).
While I was off enjoying Madeira, something miraculous happened—my football team won the FA Cup! First major trophy in our entire history. (Yes, I was at Wembley back when we won the ZDS Cup, but that was… more of a collectors’ item than a proper trophy. For the record, the ZDS Cup was a short-lived 90s competition for top-flight teams not distracted by things like European football or winning regularly.)
Now, I’m not a huge football fan, but even I have to admit—that’s a fantastic result for a team that usually specializes in glorious underachievement.
Stay healthy.
Stay fixe.
Stafish.
