An Occasional Series: Quarteira Parking & Road Etiquette (or Lack Thereof)

Parking in Quarteira at this time of year is nothing short of comedy gold. You can be in a perfectly legitimate parking space, minding your own business, and suddenly—voilà!—someone parks across you, blocking you in completely. When they eventually return and you point it out, the shouting begins. Naturally, it’s your fault for parking there in the first place.

Standing—or better yet, strolling—right in the middle of the road is also becoming the latest fashion statement. And of course, it’s never their fault… it’s everyone else who’s wrong.

Roundabouts? Oh, pure entertainment! Some drivers skip the “round” part entirely and just plough straight through the middle—dangerous, yes, but clearly the most “efficient” route in their minds. Approaching a roundabout in the left lane? That’s the universal signal to turn left… unless you’re in Quarteira, where it’s merely a suggestion.

In Quarteira, no one is ever wrong. Ever.
